Personal Legend

Hi everyone and welcome to my travel blog. The title, "Personal Legend" was inspired by the book The Alchemist authored by Paulo Coelho. Hopefully it can somewhat serve as inspiration to all of those who are considering "checking out" for a while or taking a trip to find their own Personal Legend. I am creating this to not only keep in touch with everyone but to also keep people current during my "Walkabout". I will attempt to update it every week and a half (or so) with new pictures ( and some commentary). If anyone is interested in meeting up with me along the journey or has any suggestions of some "can't miss" destinations, just drop me a note.

Sorry it took a while to put together but I wanted it properly populated upon rollout.

Enjoy.

Amsterdam, Hamburg, Cologne and Berlin

Hello family and friends,

It's been a hot minute since I updated you all on my "walkabout".  A few days in Amsterdam isn't good for the memory cells but I digress....

I hung out in Amsterdam for a few days and although they are famed for their Red Light District, Canals and various Museums, I found there to be an absolute overload of bicycles.  So much so that they have a separate lane for them in addition to car-lanes and sidewalks; go figure.  Not being used to this phenomenon, I almost got "picked for six" a few times by an innocent bicyclist for simply not paying attention...

Bikes...
Bikes...

And more bikes...

Now something a bit more enjoyable; The Heineken Factory.... talk about a global brand!

The Heineken "badges" over the years

Prost (cheers)...

From Amsterdam I went to Hamburg (Altona) to visit my good friend Joern.  It was a good opportunity for some "down time" given my hectic schedule up to this point...

The symbol of Altona; 2 horsemen fighting over a fish or perhaps a Tuna-fish? Interesante...

Hamburg Harbor at Sunset

Me at the Hamburg Harbor. It kind of looks like the shipyard in Oakland; maybe I really haven't left the Bay....

The Original Smart Car...

Cologne for a few days:  Famous Hohenzollern Bridge

Cologne Cathedral

Berlin:  Such an Awesome City.  I would encourage anybody to check it out

Quite the Disco-Ball (as the Autumn Leaves Turn)

If this gate could talk...

I Love my Street-Art...
